Job Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Department Manager and the immediate Supervisor, the Data Controller will perform accounting activities related to processing employer reports and self-payments.
Job Duties
- Maintains accurate and timely records of delinquent as well as current accounts including but not limited to, suspense items, rate changes, and accounts referred to attorneys for collection to bring all items to satisfactory conclusions.
- Reviews documents to ensure accuracy of format and appropriateness of data.
- Edits employer billings for non-monetary reporting discrepancies.
- Coordinates with other departments, Union representatives, attorneys, auditors and other persons as required for maintaining accurate employer and member records.
- Coordinates with Union representative to maintain accurate employer billing information.
- Keep abreast of changing laws and collective bargaining agreements as it effects employer reporting requirements.
- Continuous use of customer service skills, both written and telephonic, to provide helpful information, answer questions and resolve complaints.
- Prepares documentation for Account Executives to be presented at Trust meetings, etc.
- Prepares reports and does research projects as directed by the department manager or immediate supervisor
- Keeps Trust Specific Procedure Manual up to date.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
- 2 years of general office experience with at least 1 year of experience in an accounting role Or successfully complete internal Data Controller Trainee designation.
- Working knowledge of basic office equipment
- Demonstrated ability to keep calm and positive within all communications.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and external clients.
- Professional appearance with excellent communication skills required, both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate effectively with the public, union representatives, outside agencies, insurance carriers and employers.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, and staff in other departments.
- Maintain a positive mental attitude under demanding and/or stressful situations.
- Requires a dependable attendance record.
- Proven ability to accurately and timely review and accounting information and documentation.
- Utilize computer and phone systems to be able to effectively perform the essential functions of the position
- Associates degree in Accounting.
- 2-4 years of experience in an accounting role or related experience beyond general office experience.
